Role Overview:
The overall purpose of the Business Development Director (APAC) is to support the Senior Director, with business development activities, for the designated territory.
Duties include, but are not limited to, developing strategic relationships with customers and prospects, within the assigned territory / category; expanding the company network; increasing revenue and profits, by acquiring and expanding new partner accounts and managing assigned accounts in the territory / category.
Monitoring sales trends and market dynamics, to develop an appropriate time and territory strategy and a plan that delivers growth for the company in new customer conversions.
Responsibilities:
· Provide a supportive role to the Senior Director, managing commercial activities, within the assigned customer base / segment / territory, to deliver revenue and EBITDA growth, according to the group annual plan and in concert with the global strategy for the antimicrobial business unit.
· Identify target market segments and priority accounts, where solutions can deliver protection, performance improvement, lifecycle improvement, and/or consumer preference increase
· Create mutually beneficial relationships, with key decision makers, in those accounts to develop a pipeline of sales opportunities and build a book of business, by closing new customer deals.
· Manage and support existing Key Accounts for customer retention and expansion, helping to support their success in the marketplace.
· Develop strategic business relationships with partner companies, communicate thought leadership and insights to those prospects, develop trust and ultimately execute new sales contracts supporting product sales, royalties, license fees and testing fees, depending on required solutions.
· Manage territory budget, sales and pricing strategy, contract renewal strategy, deal negotiation, development fees, account and customer support and other elements, so that the territory profitability is improved and optimized in accordance with the annual plan.
· Assist in the compilation of the annual territory budget and strategic business plan.
· Support delivery of company messaging at trade fairs, technical conferences, regulatory sessions and public presentations to further the brand, products, solutions and sales for the business.
· Help commercial team peers replicate commercial successes in different territories and other regions of the world, by documenting case studies for key wins and sharing insights with others.
· Monitor and analyze market trends and competitors to make sure products and services stay competitive and make suggestions on how to better improve, position, or promote current product lines, into new partner accounts and application spaces.
· Help development of unique products and/or formats to meet customer needs, working with the technical teams to bring these optimal solutions to market.
· Manages 4-6 employees in business development activities across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. In partnership with the Senior Director, International Business Development, is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the designated territory. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
· This position requires interfacing with key company stakeholders globally including sales, R&D, supply chain, marketing, customer service, and manufacturing, and the person in this position must be able to effectively collaborate and communicate with these departments to meet company expectations and consumer/partner demands. The Director, Business Development (APAC) manages business revenue as set at the start of each financial period for the assigned Territory
Candidate Profile:
· Educated to bachelor’s degree level.
· Demonstrable experience in a sales leadership role.
· Experience selling a technical, solution based product or working for a Brand.
· Skilled in listening, discovery and solutions selling.
· Adept at interpersonal skills to develop and maintain business relationships and determine customer wants and needs.
· A self-starter, who coordinates well with teams in support roles and with teams in other territories.
· Fluency in written and spoken English and Mandarin is required.
· Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format; ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and have experience with Salesforce.com or other Customer Relationship Management system and business social media platforms such as LinkedIn.
· Skilled in the following areas: pricing, lead generation, networking, financial understandings, customer awareness, manufacturing, international business knowledge, commercially astute, high level detailed branded royalty agreements, project management, marketing, copy writing, contract negotiating, CSuite corporate negotiations.

· Must be able to travel as needed up to 50% of the time.
